Holistic Care Questions

There are a lot of questions that people have when visiting a new Naturopathic Doctor. Find some of the most common questions people have below. If something is still unclear, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Medication

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Naturopathic medicine is not routinely covered by insurance in Missouri at this time. All payments for services are due at the time of service. Flex spending and Health Savings Accounts may be used for some prescribed herbs and supplements through our clinic supplement providers. Many clients have reported saving money over time when being cared for by a Naturopathic Doctor. This is accomplished through reduced medication, less time off from work, and prevention of more costly health care problems.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

As a naturopathic doctor, a lot of time is spent with the client, listening carefully to their health concerns and health goals, using physical and laboratory diagnostic techniques to accurately diagnose their condition, and creating an effective and sustainable treatment plan. The first visit is 60 minutes long and the cost is $200. Follow up visits are priced at $50 per 30 minutes.  Lab tests, medications, and supplements are additional fees that vary in cost and are unique to each patient.

WHAT TYPES OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?

In-person or online, all major credit cards are accepted. If you are visiting in-person, you may pay with cash as well.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS MY APPOINTMENT?

You will be charged a cancellation fee of up to the full price of the visit if you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment or if you are a “no-show.” We hope you understand the reason for this policy—it is because we are reserving a large block of time for your treatment.

I CAN'T COME IN PERSON. CAN I STILL WORK WITH YOU?

Of course! Online consultations are offered for your convenience. Virtually gives us the opportunity to chat about your health needs or concerns no matter where you're at. We understand that traveling isn't always easy or possible. Or there are other reasons you might not be able to make your normal in-person visit...the car broke down, the kids are sick, or you're out-of-town/state/country. Just keep in mind, that consultations may be limited due to what we can or cannot see online. (Example: That spot you're concerned about on your arm might not come through clearly on the screen versus being able to see it in-person.)

DO YOU PRESCRIBE CANNABIS (WEED)?

The quick and easy answer is ‘no.’ We're not against cannabis under certain circumstances, but we choose to help our clients by finding the root of the cause instead of using temporary "band-aid" fixes.

CAN YOU RUN LAB TESTS?

Yes, we can run all basic blood work, and many specialized tests as well. Blood labs can be drawn up at LabCorp or Quest. For our clients paying out of pocket, we use a Lab Co-Op, which gives us access to wholesale costs on labs. We extend these wholesale costs directly to our clients, without marking up the prices. We can also order imaging and other diagnostic techniques as necessary.

ARE THE HERBS SAFE?

We only use herbs from top-quality professional sources. We do not recommend purchasing herbs from just anywhere due to the possibility of receiving contaminated or counterfeit products.

I HAVE _________ CONDITION. CAN I BE SEEN?

ABSOLUTELY!! Because Naturopathy focuses on the health of the entire body and not the specific disease, our supportive care can provide increased vitality to regain one's health and balance. Naturopathic medicine has the ability to further assist with any condition that is treated with conventional interventions.  We often work in conjunction and receive various referrals from other medical professionals. This is because many conditions that are deemed "untreatable" by other physicians have been dramatically improved with naturopathic therapies.

ARE YOU OPPOSED TO DRUGS OR MAJOR SURGERY

No. We are not opposed to invasive or suppressive measures when these methods are absolutely necessary. We will make referrals for such treatment when appropriate. We serve as a bridge between conventional and alternative treatments because we are trained to understand drug-herb interactions and when conventional treatments are needed. We work in collaboration and conjunction with many other health professionals in the area in order to provide the best comprehensive care for clients.
